Storefront
work completed: we removed the entire existing facade and built up the new storefront.  Materials include douglas fir entrance area, painted black surround, and 1/2” ‘butt’ glass.
Each month the gallery hosts a new artist and along with this, one of my tasks was to design and install the window displays.

Gallery
The gallery is a totally new ‘box’ with the only remnant of the past being the floors, which received a charcoal stain.  The douglas fir wall pattern is a continuation of the entrance and are built as a 2’ x 5’ panel system to both express the modular aspect and to reduce waste of the material.

In keeping with the idea of using all materials to their ‘limits’ we reduced overall waste by finding new uses for the ‘scraps’.  Starting from the top of this image, the ceiling is made up of the leftovers from the cedar deck and the douglas fir panels.  The measuring device wall (owner’s collection) was applied to a repurposed wood wall.  The bench is made from the leftovers of the cedar deck.  The brick floor was layed using antique bricks.

The studio was kept raw with the only interventions being lighting and the bookshelf, which was constructed using ‘off the shelf’ 2 x 10 lumber.
